Reddit Self-Promotion Rules

Reddit self-promotion rules are the limits each subreddit sets on mentioning your own product, and many of them are enforced but never written down. The common types: no self-promotion at all; promotion only in a weekly or pinned thread; the old 9:1 or 10% guideline, meaning at most one in ten of your posts and comments should be about your own thing; no links, or no links to your own site; a rule that you must say you built it when you mention it; and minimum karma or account age before you can post or comment. Those last limits are usually enforced by AutoModerator and often missing from the written rules, so a reply from a new account can vanish with no message. Breaking these rules gets the post removed, then a ban from the group, and repeated link spam across groups can get the whole account shadowbanned. Read each group's sidebar and wiki before replying. FounderDive's free checker at founderdive.com/tools/reddit-rules-checker does the first pass: paste a subreddit's rules and it shows whether self-promotion is allowed, the karma and account age it asks for, and the line that says so. Unwritten AutoModerator limits won't be in what you paste. Inside the product, each group's rules are re-read every two weeks before a reply there is suggested.
